Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on drug and trespassing charges

A 49-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday in 1400 block of Medical Parkway on a felony drug charge and misdemeanor trespassing, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Daniel Phelps was taken into custody at 6:07 p.m. after allegedly threatening hospital staff and returning after being told to leave.
Phelps was arrested by deputies with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team and taken to jail. He was found to be in possession of Tizanidine and Xanax. Phelps did not have a prescription. Bail: $2,742.

In other arrests: A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 6:54 p.m. in the 2500 block of Kit Sierra Way on two misdemeanor charges of domestic battery. Officers were dispatched to the area after the woman allegedly battered her boyfriend and her roommate.

When officers arrived on scene, the woman had left the residence and the victims explained what happened. The woman’s boyfriend’s father was living in the residence and said he witnessed the woman battering her roommate in the face and throwing punches at his son.

According to the police report, the woman’s boyfriend had a laceration on his right hand and blood on his shirt. He said he was bleeding from blocking her punches with his forearm and hands. The woman’s roommate had a laceration on his forearm from defending himself and said his left cheek hurt from being punched. Both men filled out statements regarding what had happened. The woman’s boyfriend said she was extremely intoxicated when she became violent. The officers decided they had enough evidence to arrest her for domestic battery.

About an hour later officers returned after the woman had returned to the residence and began arguing again with everyone inside. When officers arrived, the woman began to run and officers chased after her and ordered her to stop. She complied and was arrested. Bail: $6,274.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 3:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of Mayflower Way on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Deputies were dispatched to a pizza restaurant regarding a domestic battery that had occurred in the 2000 block of Mayflower Way. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who spoke through her friend because she did not speak English.

The woman said said she got into an argument with her boyfriend, he became angry and hit her on the right side of her face. The woman said she took the children and went outside. According to the report, she said her boyfriend grabbed a gun and pointed it in her direction and said if she came back he would kill her.

The officers went to the address to make contact with the subject. He identified himself and said he and his girlfriend were arguing and he hit her but her sister got in-between. He said he may have been able to slightly hit the right side of her face. The man said he never pulled a gun out. Bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 11:34 p.m. in the 900 block of East Musser Street on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Officers responded and made contact with the victim. She said she and her boyfriend were arguing in her car when he punched her in the lip and got out. The woman then drove to her friends house and called 911.

As officers were contacting the victim, the man was contacting the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. He said he was arguing with the woman and punched her in the mouth. He said he did not mean to punch her, but they were both yelling and shoving each other. Officers determined the man was the primary aggressor. Bail: $3,137.

— A 26-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday at 11:34 a.m. on the 1400 block of Rand Avenue on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were traveling southbound on I-580 when they observed a BMW sedan traveling at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic and almost causing several accidents.

Officers followed the vehicle off the freeway at William Street and into a parking lot. The man got out of the vehicle angry and yelling at the officers. The officers placed handcuffs on the man and conducted a vehicle inventory. During the inventory they found a multi-colored glass pipe with green leafy substance identified as marijuana, a metal marijuana grinder and two glass jars with marijuana residue and multiple baggies with marijuana inside. Officers also located several empty bottles of methadone.

The man was asked about the bottles and he said he was a heroin addict and he was using methadone to get off heroin. Bail: $1,774

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 11:53 a.m. in the 3000 block of Bunc Way on misdemeanor charges of DUI first offense and obstructing/resisting. Officers were dispatched to the area in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, they met with the reporting party who said she and her boyfriend got into an argument because he was drinking. The man left the residence before officers arrival. The woman said he might be driving to the Walmart to buy more alcohol.

The officers were going toward the Walmart when they witnessed a blue Subaru being driven by a white male wearing a hat. The officers caught up to the Subaru and conducted a traffic stop. The driver identified himself and he was the same man in the domestic dispute. According to the report, the man had red watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.

The man was asked to step out of the vehicle. They then witnessed the man walking towards his residence. After being asked to stop several times, officers caught up to him and arrested him after he resisted them several times. After being transported to detention, the man submitted a PBT of .293. Bail: $1,549.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 5:32 a.m. in the 20 block of Granite Way on a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Officers were dispatched to the area in reference to a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival officers located two suspects. One suspect was 15 years old and was taken into custody for curfew violation. The reporting witness could not identify either subject as the one in the vehicle. The man was arrested for contributing. Bail: $637.

— A 20-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Saturday at 2:21 a.m. on the corner of Anderson and Proctor streets on misdemeanor charges of contributing and basic speed. An officer was stopped at a traffic light and witnessed a white Ford traveling at a high rate of speed estimated at 40 miles per hour. The officer conducted a traffic stop.

In the vehicle were also two juveniles. The officer made contact with the woman driving and asked why she had two juveniles after curfew. She said she was picking them up to take them to their mother’s house. The officer then contacted the passenger’s parents who said they were not aware their children were out. The passengers were taken in for curfew violation and the woman was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and basic speed. Bail: $729.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday at 3:04 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Stewart Street on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Officers were dispatched to the area in reference to an intoxicated subject. The Carson Fire Department was dispatched to the area as well in reference to a subject unconscious.

Officers met with the man who was grossly intoxicated, according to the report. The man was not able to take care of himself and was unable to contact anyone to pick him up. The man was also unwilling to go to detox to avoid the arrest. Bail: $347.

— A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at 9:16 a.m. in the 1700 block of Dori Way on a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court warrant. An officer was dispatched in regards to a subject with a warrant. The man let the officer into his residence and identified himself. After being checked for wants and warrants, he returned for a warrant. Bail: $5,000.

On May 18, 2024, at about 0050 hours, Carson City Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
driven by Christopher Gorham. A drug-detection canine was used to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia along with an explosive device.

An 1884 Carson City Morgan silver dollar donated by Northern Nevada Coin is being raffled by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum. The raffle will highlight the Tin Cup Roundup fundraiser planned for Saturday, September 21 (5 to 8 pm). Proceeds from the raffle and the event will support the restoration of a 1967 Chevrolet pickup truck for the State Museum.

Deputies are investigating a pipe bomb that was discovered during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday afternoon for felony domestic battery.

Steven Michael was arrested after deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault.

A 63-year-old housekeeper was arrested Thursday for 14 counts of credit card fraud and other offenses after allegedly stealing a credit card belonging to an 86-year-old patient who family members said was being treated for a stroke at a local care facility, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.
