Wednesday Farmer's Market begins in downtown Carson City
Breezy afternoon winds Wednesday deterred neither vendors nor shoppers at the opening of the Wednesday Farmer's Market, located along Curry Street between Third and Fourth.
The weekly summer-long series is sponsored by Mom and Pop's Diner, at the corner of Carson and Third streets, and occurs each Wednesday night from now into October.
Doug and Jamesa Cramer, owners of Mom and Pop's, said in an earlier interview with Carson Now that the Wednesday Farmer's Market is expected to grow to as many as 30 produce, arts and craft vendors once the Bob McFadden Plaza is completed.
The pedestrian plaza is replacing Third Street between Carson and Curry, which is now closed off to vehicle traffic.
About ten vendors were set up Wednesday night for the first farmer's market event. They included suppliers of fresh seasonal produce, local honey, jewelry, arts and crafts.
The Cramers told Carson Now that about 90 percent of vendors lined up for the summer event are local from Nevada.
The Wednesday Farmer's Market runs from 4 to 8 p.m. every week through the summer and into the fall.
