Entertainer James Lee Reeves brings songs, bad marital advice routine to Gold Hill series
Musician-comedian and TV actor James Lee Reeves of the Virginia City Highlands saw Elvis Presley on TV at age 10, and decided to become an entertainer. He settled in Southern California, earned a BA in history and then pursued his love of music, acting and songwriting.
He landed a role in an episode of the TV show Kung Fu starring David Carradine. He also was cast as a character named, Fearless, in the short-lived TV series called Nichols, starring James Garner.
He fronted a number of bands in California in the 70’s. Songwriting came naturally to him, and he wrote a comedy show full of funny songs.
His shows have featured characters that bring his themes to life. Milo Tremley is a hayseed, unsophisticated type who allows him to poke fun at low-life behavior. Professor Milo-”Marriage Therapist” dispenses bad marital advice drawing from his experiences of past failed marriages.
He began writing songs about Nevada and released the album, “I’ll Take Nevada.”
On Thursday, he brings his humor, songwriting and observations to the Thursday Gold Hill Hotel lecture series, which he has self-titled “Songs About Nevada Written In Nevada Interspersed With Bad Marital Advice.”
Reeves’ Gold Hill Presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dinner is from 4-8 p.m. at the Crown Point Restaurant at the Gold Hill Hotel with several fine-dining menu options offered. Ticlets are $25 for the dinner and lecture and $10 for the lecture only.
