First Judicial District Court implements new jury management system
The First Judicial District Court will use $43,245 in grant funding from the Nevada Supreme Court — Administrative Office of the Court — to assist with modernizing its jury management system.
The new web-based jury system purchased from Courthouse Technologies will provide the convenience of eResponse (Online) and Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) functionality for prospective jurors.
The new system delivers alternative ways to obtain general information, make requests to be excused, disqualified, or deferred and the ability to find out results either online or by phone. Additionally, prospective jurors can request to be notified by phone, text, and/or email and receive reminders for their jury reporting date.
In discussing the need for a new jury management system, Judge James T. Russell and Judge James E. Wilson Jr., expressed their understanding that receiving a summons for jury service is not always a welcoming event however, is an essential civic duty that protects individual’s rights and liberties.
Through their support and hard work of court staff, this new jury management system will provide the community with greater flexibility to perform jury service.
Courts across the nation have implemented advanced jury management systems in an effort to make the jury experience more convenient to the community they serve. The new system will be fully operational by April of 2016.
