NV Energy reports weather-related power outages throughout the region
NV Energy has been experiencing power outages since Wednesday night in Carson City, Douglas County and in the Yerington area.
In the Smith Valley area around 500 customers were without power beginning at around 8 a.m., Thursday morning including customers in Topaz Ranch Estates. The outage is due to downed wires, said NV Energy spokeswoman Faye Andersen.
Around 300 customers were affected Thursday morning in the Ruhenstroth area of Douglas County after heavy, wet snow caused the lines to vibrate. Power is said to be "off and on," said Andersen.
About 50 customers in Johnson Lane area were without power at around 9 a.m. Thursday morning after a car slid off the road and into a cable box that caused a power disruption, said Andersen.
Five Goni Road customers were without power Wednesday from around 7 p.m. to midnight. A blown transformer in a backyard sparked a pole fire.
Around 100 customers in the Foothill Road and Centerville areas of Douglas County were without power Wednesday from around 7:30 p.m. to 11:20 p.m. The outage was due to blown fuses.
