Envying The Fun In The Editor's Office

The editor must have been enjoying some holiday cheer. Sometimes I envy the guy, he sure has a fun job. Consider the last few postings. 1. ...and deservedly so! | Carson City Nevada News - Carson Now http://carsonnow.org/reader-content/11/23/2012/and-deservedly-so  Absolutely right. As the author says, there is no cure for willful ignorance. Before I give in to the temptation of pointing to this letter as one obvious illustration of that dictum, let me ask the following questions:How do you define "classical conservative"? There was a time really not all that long ago when that meant simply "royalist." Surely you don't intend to apply the characterization of "conservative," as William F. Buckley and Ronald Reagan were conservatives, to the moderate Republican establishment (RINOs) of the 20th century whose answer to the all too obvious creeping socialism was "me too, but slower." Surely you don't deny that today's "liberals" are nothing like the classical liberals of the 18th and 19th centuries; that today's "liberals" are nothing more than followers of a 160 year old piece of garbage economic and political theory called marxism that has only lead to the murder of hundreds of millions and the enslavement of billions for many decades. And, speaking of the media, surely you can't deny that today's "mainstream" media such as ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NYT, etc. were 100% in the tank for the re-election of Obama, to the point that they never reported anything that could possibly reflect on him negatively, while they never failed to engage in distortions, lies and fabrications about any and all Republicans. There is at least one website, NewsBusters.org devotes to nothing but this media bias. So, pray tell, what the heck is the point of this letter? You are more likely to be DIS-informed in the old Soviet sense if you get your news, in this internet age, only from the "mainstream" media. Finally, as to WHY we got "our asses kicked," that is true when it comes to MODERATE Republican candidates. THEY were the ones who could not articulate well reasoned and historically well proven conservative principles that THEY do not believe in. In 2012 as in 2010, true conservatives DID manage to win in spite of this Obama tide, with the exception of the couple of idiots who could not keep their stupid mouths shut about RAPE, of all things, and a couple of others who were simply robbed by simple old fashioned voter fraud... 2. Letter: Dividing the Pie | Carson City Nevada News - Carson Now http://carsonnow.org/reader-content/11/24/2012/dividing-pie  When I came to live in Carson City three years ago, this was a town that put the lie to that stupid line that illegals are taking the jobs that Americans won't do. Unlike in CA, here we actually saw white teens working in fast food restaurants and white adults doing jobs that the snooty folks in coastal CA haven't done in a few generations. In these three years, however, the picture has been changing here, too. We too are being californicated at an accelerated pace, as we an easily tell from the lines at the DMV, in the fast food restaurants where the teens are being replaced by adults, and the people doing the gardening all around town. What we don't see is new construction going on to house all these new people, and so you do have to wonder, where do they find housing and jobs they need to make it here, where are the whites going and what were they doing that they can't make it here anymore? 3. Rebirth of a relic: Whig Party rises again in Nevada - Las Vegas Sun News http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/nov/24/rebirth-relic-whig-party-rises-again-nevada/ The Whigs were a prominent political party from the 1830s through the 1850s, formed in opposition to the democratizing politics of President Andrew Jackson, who expanded voting rights to white men who didn’t necessarily own property or pay taxes; promoted Westward expansion, laissez-faire economics and more individual state responsibility in government; and ended the national bank. Whigs, by contrast, had their base of support in the professional and merchant class, believed in centralized national government that actively invested in state infrastructure and education, and maintained a central bank. Setting aside the joke that this story is -- I guess the reporter and his paper were having a slow news day -- there is one valid point that it makes, intentionally or not. And that point is,Elitist big business, big labor, big bank, big education, big government, big empire. Now THERE is a winning platform...I don't know whether to call it creeping socialism as we used to call it, or creeping fascism, what it really is, but it is indisputable that this is PRECISELY the "progressive" Democrat version of this platform that got us over the last hundred years into the real mess we are in now... There is no need for a Whig party; they are alive and well as the unholy collusion between Democrats and RINOs -- the same collusion that gave rise to Goldwater, Reagan, the Libertarian Party and the TEA Party, to name a few consequences of people being fed up with progressive / Democrat / Whig politics as usual.Did you ever think you'd live to see the day when Jeffersonian / Jacksonian democracy would become the CONSERVATIVE ideal? Western civilization since classical Greece and Rome has struggled with the dichotomy between the philosophical visions of Plato and Aristotle. Plato gave us the experiments with totalitarian utopias, from theocracies and the divine rights of kings to the master race and the dictatorship of the proletariat, as petty tyrants fancied themselves to be real life examples of Plato's enlightened "philosopher kings." Aristotle gave us Athenian democracy, the Renaissance, the Scottish Enlightenment, and the political ideals of America's founders. American political thought, in turn, has been struggling with the differences between the federalist and anti-federalist interpretations of the Constitution. The ever growing socialist excesses of the federal government, especially obamacare, have once again aroused interest in the 9th and 10th Amendments, and raised it to a level not seen since the Webster-Calhoon debates on states rights. We may have lost the last presidential election, but we retained the House and most governors and state houses; the debate is far from finished.
