April Statewide Gaming Win Down 5.7 Percent, Vegas Strip Off Less Than 1 Percent
CARSON CITY – Statewide April gaming revenues declined 5.7 percent compared to the same month in 2009, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported today.
Gaming win by Nevada casinos totaled $810 million in April compared to $859 million won in April 2009.
For the first 10 months of the fiscal year that began July 1, gaming revenues total $8.7 billion, 4 percent below the $9.1 billion reported for fiscal year 2009.
Clark County gaming revenues totaled $690 million, down 6.1 percent over April 2009. The Las Vegas Strip however, saw revenues decline by less than 1 percent for a $437 million gaming win.
One factor helping the bottom line on the Strip was baccarat play by high rollers. Baccarat win totaled $59 million, up 10.6 percent over April 2009.
But downtown Las Vegas was off by 9.1 percent and North Las Vegas was down 11.9 percent compared to April 2009.
Washoe County gaming revenues declined only 1.7 percent in April, with $64 million taken in from gamblers compared to $66 million in April 2009.
The April decline follows a revenue decrease of less than 1 percent in March and a double-digit gain in February attributed in large part to visitors attending Las Vegas for the Chinese New Year holiday and the Super Bowl.
