Dallas Burrow to Perform at Nashville Social Club on August 5

Join Us for a Night of Soulful, Texas Americana Music

Carson City, Nevada - On August 5th, the Nashville Social Club in Carson City welcomes breakout Texas singer-songwriter Dallas Burrow live in concert.

The Karson Kruzers non-profit organization was developed in 1985 by B.J. Barnhurst and his friends. The group wanted to allow everybody that loved their car a chance to put it in a real car show, even if it didn’t run.

Applicants sought for AmeriCorps service in Nevada

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) is currently recruiting for part time and full time AmeriCorps members to help make a difference in rural Nevada communities by teaching financial literacy to children, teens and adults. AmeriCorps is a national program that connects individuals and organizations to help communities tackle challenges and improve lives and communities.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, the extreme-value grocery retailer, launched its 13th Annual Independence from Hunger Food Drive, to combat food insecurity and support families in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout America. From June 28 to July 31, 2023, Carson City Grocery Outlet is teaming up with The Northern Nevada Dream Center, to collect cash donations in-store and online.

The next Carson City School Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday night, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.

Thursday night, deputies were dispatched to a suspicious suspect near a local ranching supply store who was reportedly talking to himself and "asking for people," according to the report.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located a small fire that was being fueled by brush.

Carson City Supervisors recently rejected a recommendation from the city's Growth Management Commission that would have designated a portion of available building permits specifically for affordable housing units.

The proposal would have increased growth allocations by 3 percent, with 2 percent for market-rate housing and 1 percent set aside for affordable housing starts specifically targeting workforce housing.

While Mayor Lori Bagwell cited her denial in language and definition concerns, Supervisor Maurice White stated that Carson City “has enough affordable housing.”

Carson City Supervisors voted Thursday to approve union agreements with both the Carson City Fire Fighters Association, as well as the Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association.

The agreement with the Carson City Sheriff’s Association will retroactively apply a salary adjustment to employees with a rank of sergeant from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028, with an estimated impact of $4.8 million.

According to Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon, the landfill fire was extinguished early Monday after burning for a little over five days.

Shortly before 5 p.m. late Wednesday afternoon, firefighters were dispatched to the landfill for what was initially reported as a 50 foot by 50 foot active fire. The landfill was closed Thursday while firefighters worked to suppress the flames, but reopened on Friday for the public.
