Carson City approves union agreement with fire fighters, sheriff’s office associations
Carson City Supervisors voted Thursday to approve union agreements with both the Carson City Fire Fighters Association, as well as the Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association.
The agreement with the Carson City Sheriff’s Association will retroactively apply a salary adjustment to employees with a rank of sergeant from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028, with an estimated impact of $4.8 million.
Detective Brett Bindley on behalf of the Association thanked the tireless work of the city’s negotiators who worked with the Association for over seven months to come to a resolution.
Supervisor Maurice White voted against the agreement, but did not state why he was voting against.
Similarly, Supervisors approved an agreement with the Carson City Fire Fighters Association, which will retroactively apply a salary adjustment to employees with the rank of Battalion Chief from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2027 with an estimated fiscal impact of $661,708.
Supervisor White again voted against the agreement, but did not state why he was voting against.
Supervisor Curt Horton abstained from the vote, as he has family members currently employed with the Carson City Fire Department.
