The Carson City School District will be entering a “Mass Action Lawsuit” against several social media companies, joining districts nationwide.

What the lawsuit is asking for is changes to online practices pertaining to cyberbullying and online harassment on social media platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, Youtube and more, as well as payment to the increased expense undertaken by schools to deal with higher levels of anxiety, depression and self-harm caused, they say, by social media.

This work is related to the NV Energy Resilience Corridors Project and the company's Natural Disaster Protection Plan, which is aimed at protecting the community from the increased risk of wildfires and other natural disasters.

Construction at the Comstock Country RV Resort, located at the corner of Carson Street and Old Clear Creek next to Bodine’s Casino, has been ongoing for several months.

According to Planning Manager Heather Ferris, the Planning Commission approved a Special Use Permit in August 2022 that reduced the number of RV spaces at Comstock from 150 to 82.
