Carson City Sheriff's Office welcomes K9 Proton as newest addition to the K9 family
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit is proud to officially announce Deputy Ryan Greb and K9 Proton as our newest K9 team.
Deputy Greb has been with the Sheriff’s office for more than seven years, he is a SWAT team lead, and he’s a field training officer in the Patrol Division. His new partner, K9 Proton, is an 18-month old Belgian Malinois who’s fluent in Dutch. Proton specializes in drug detection, tracking, and apprehension.
In order to provide full services and 24-hour coverage for the Carson City community, the Sheriff’s Office continues to build upon the existing K9 unit, working toward achieving a full complement of eight K9 teams.
Proton brings the unit total to seven teams, and we’ll look to add our eighth K9 team by spring. These endeavors are expensive, and we are currently raising funds for the next dog, a K9 out-fitted vehicle, and safety equipment to keep the dogs safe.
For additional information regarding CCSO K9, or if you’d like to know how you can donate to the K9 unit, please contact Sgt. Darin Riggin or visit the Sheriff’s Office main building, 911 East Musser Street, during regular business hours.
