In recognition of Historic Preservation and Archeological Awareness Month, Carson City's Historic Resources Commission has organized the 2023 Scavenger Hunt. This year’s hunt focuses on identifying the unique elements that reflect the architectural styles of the period from 1900 to 1975.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony theft of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor warrant, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Carson Fly Fishing Club's Monthly Meeting is Tuesday, May 9, 7 p.m. in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 East Musser Street.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday evening to a fire in a tree that was burning near a residence in the 2400 block of Lewis Drive.

A state fund used to grant compensation to victims of crime is at risk of being insolvent during the upcoming two-year budget period if additional money is not added to address a dwindling pot of federal dollars.

That would leave the state unable to issue payments to crime victims that are typically used to handle emergency needs such as funeral expenses, relocation costs and emergency therapy.

Seven local bowlers were inducted in the second class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 29, at Carson Lanes. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.

Playing high school football can be a great experience for teens. But for Jonas Reitinger, it’s more than that. “It’s the European dream, playing American Football.”

Jonas is an exchange student from the Czech Republic. He has spent nearly a year in Carson City as part of the Rotary International’s Youth Exchange Program. He earned a spot on the Carson High football team, despite never actually playing the game in his home country.

A vehicle carrying four suspects in a Douglas County retail theft reached speeds of 102 mph on SR89 over Luther Pass before being stopped Thursday morning by multiple law enforcement agencies.

At approximately 11:05 a.m. on April 27, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer from the South Lake Tahoe office was working in Alpine County when she observed a gray van approaching from the opposite direction at a high rate of speed, estimated at 85 mph.

As can be seen in the photo, snowmelt rushing from sierras thanks to the quickly warming weather is causing the Carson River to rapidly expand, cresting banks and wetlands.

Audition dates have been extended for “Social Security” a play by Andrew Bergman. Auditions will be on Saturday, May 6, at 10:00 am at The Annex, 1572 Hwy 395 in Minden. You will meet CVCT’s new director, Toni Tomei.

New, that is to CVCT, Toni has been involved with the theatre for many years and is looking forward to directing this sophisticated comedy.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run involving a pedestrian that occurred in the area of Carson St and Robinson St. On 4/28/23, at about 2008 hours, a dark colored sedan was driving westbound on Robinson from Plaza St.

A little after 8 p.m. a pedestrian hit-and-run was reported on Robinson St. near the nugget.

The victim, a 55-year-old woman, was struck and suffered a head and ankle injury according to dispatch.
