The Mono County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing juvenile from Chalfant near Bishop, Calif., who has family ties in Yerington, Nev. Sixteen-year-old Karlie Lain Gusé was last seen in the early morning of Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, on Ponderosa Street near White Mountain Estate Road in Chalfant.

We can do better, we should do better, and we must do better. You see, it’s our responsibility to do better, and we need to realize that no amount of money is going to help more than the investment we choose to give it.

I’m talking about the stewardship of our future. You know them, the oft-maligned young people in our midst. The ones we criticize for being cell phone dependent and social media addled, even as older adults are the fastest growing group of social media users.

Lights, camera, action! The Second annual Jukebox Film Festival begins today at the Carson City Community Center. Two full days of features, documentaries, and short films with music as the uniting theme will be shown at the Carson City Community Center: 30 unique titles representing 29 different filmmakers from countries around the world. Blood Drum Spirit, a jazz band with an African influence, is the focus of one of those films and will be performing for free at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint this evening.
