Search continues for missing Mono County teen with family ties to Lyon County
Mono County Sheriff's Office investigators continue to search for a missing 16-year-old girl with family ties in Yerington who was last seen early Saturday, Oct. 13 near her home in the Bishop, Calif area.
Karlie Lain Gusé was last seen near her home in Chalfant, Calif. where it is believed she walked away and left her phone behind. Karlie may be disoriented and does not have any personal belongings or cell phone with her. Two additional photographs have been publicly released.
Mono County authorities say there were sightings of her in the area of White Mountain Estates Road and Highway 6 around 7 to 7:30 a.m. She was wearing a white T-shirt and gray sweatpants.
Karlie is a white female, 16 years old, 5’ 07”, 110 pounds, dark blond hair and blue eyes.
Mono County Sheriff's Office investigators say they continue to follow all leads and tips and are considering all possibilities. The agency has enlisted the assistance of many resources in the area and has interviewed all family and friends who have been cooperative.
For several days Mono County Sheriff's Office conducted a search of the surrounding high desert, using helicopters, scent dogs, off-road vehicles and foot patrol.
"We are scouring her social media and electronic devices. Her family is fully cooperative, and we are in regular contact with them," according to a Mono County Sheriff's Office news release. "Her Missing Person flyer has been shared with local and regional media and shared over many social media platforms."
Karlie has been added to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She does not meet the criteria for an AMBER alert as there is no evidence or indication of an abduction.
Mono County authorities encourage all to continue to share the missing person flyer and photos of Karlie and appreciate helpful suggestions and welcome any information that will lead to finding Karlie and bringing her safely to her family.
If you have seen Karlie or have any information regarding her whereabouts, please call Mono County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 760-932-7549, option 7. In an Oct. 14 Facebook post, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office asked that anyone who may have seen Karlie Gusé or knows her whereabouts to please contact either the Mono County Sheriff's Office at 760-932-7549 (option 7), or the Lyon County Sheriff's Office at 775-463-6620.
