Carson City deputies arrest wanted suspects on lewdness, stolen vehicle warrants

A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of second-time domestic battery after an argument over computer use, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched at around 8:30 p.m. to the 300 block of West Hampton Drive in reference to a domestic battery. Upon arrival a 14-year-old female came running outside the residence and said her mother was on the floor, the arrest report states.

The teen led deputies inside the above apartment where her mother was face down on the floor. The woman was moaning and rolling around. The inside of the home showed signs of a physical fight. Furniture was overturned and food was thrown everywhere, the arrest report states.

The teen was able to get her mother to sit up. The deputy observed cuts and blood on her face. She told the deputy her husband punched her in the face and left the home. She appeared to be intoxicated with red, watery eyes and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her. She refused to be take to the hospital. A deputy took pictures of the woman’s injuries.

The woman was asked by the deputy to explain the incident. She said she and her husband had been drinking at the casinos. When they returned home she said her husband became upset because their teen was on the computer, according to the arrest report.

The victim stated her husband yelled at her and told her to shut up and stop defending the teen. The victim said her husband then began to punch and slap her and that she punched back to defend herself. She said she eventually fell to the floor and her husband fled the scene.

The deputy advised the woman should obtain a restraining order in which she told him she would, the arrest report states.

Later Tuesday at 10:15 p.m. deputies responded to the 300 block of West Hampton Drive. The victim advised dispatch the man was back at the home and yelling through the window.

On arrival the officer checked the area and located the suspect walking south on Imperial Way. A deputy stopped and asked the man if he was involved in a domestic battery earlier in the evening. He advised he was and lived in the 300 block of West Hampton Drive. He was arrested and read his Miranda rights. He stated he understood and wished to speak.

The man told the deputy he and his wife were at a casino having dinner and drinks. Prior to leaving the home he gave his daughter permission to use his computer. He said his wife did not want their daughter on the computer. He stated when he and his wife returned home, the victim began yelling at him for allowing their daughter to use the computer.

He advised his wife began scratching his face, stomach and arms. He said he pushed his wife away and left the residence. He said he came back an hour later and asked for his wallet. He said the woman did not give it to him and told him she was calling the sheriff’s office. He again left and walked to a convenience store and purchased ice tea drinks. He was arrested for suspicion of second offense domestic battery. Bail: $5,000.

In other arrests:
— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Kyle Sullivan Bryan, was booked into jail Tuesday, 4:52 p.m. for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued July 6, 2018 out of El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The warrant alleges attempted lewd act upon a child. Bryan is awaiting extradition to California. Bail: $100,000.

— A 44-year-old transient, John Michael Taylor, was booked Tuesday for felony warrants alleging possession of a stolen vehicle, parole and probation violation and misdemeanor contempt of court.

According to the arrest report, at around 4:49 a.m. a deputy observed a vehicle parked in a lot in the area of Fall and Proctor streets. The deputy approached the vehicle and observed three subjects sleeping inside.

One of the occupants, Taylor, was had three active and confirmed warrants: Felony Nevada Parole and Probation, felony Carson City drug court and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail. He’s being held without bail in lieu of court hearings.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.

Dayton Elementary School in Lyon County was honored Wednesday along 13 other schools including Carson High in Carson City as a Nevada Purple Star School.
