Carson City man pleads in child sex assault case, faces 5 years to life in prison
A Carson City man has pled no contest to one count of battery with the intent to commit sexual assault on a child under 16, a Category A felony, punishable by a term of maximum of life with a minimum parole eligibility of 5 years.
Aaron Cody Grayshield made the plea Tuesday before Judge James Wilson in Carson City Department 2 First Judicial Court. He was initially charged with multiple crimes against a child.
"We are asking 5 to life," said Garrit Pruyt, a Carson City Deputy District Attorney.
Grayshield was arrested in December 2018 after Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team deputies and Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives served a felony arrest warrant alleging sex crimes against a child.
At the time of the arrest he was booked on five counts of sexual assault on a victim under 14, and six counts of using a minor under 14 for pornography, and one count of felony child abuse, according to a sheriff's office arrest report.
Sentencing is April 21, 2020.
