If you're ready to build confidence, establish a survival mindset, and become empowered, then Girls on Guard is for you!

This women's self-defense course focused on risk awareness, risk reduction and personal safety. It will teach you alertness, avoidance, space management, and a system of resisting possible assaults using simple-to-learn, gross-body movements that take advantage of natural instincts.

Free self defense class this Saturday at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center

Idealists of Carson City, a club for positive change that meets monthly at the Brewery Arts Center, will have its next meeting on March 16, at 3 p.m. and the public is invited.

We have scheduled a self-defense class. The class will be upstairs in the Brewery Arts Ballroom, 449 King Street, Carson City. The instructor is Sean Morey, a martial arts teacher. Please wear comfortable clothing, and invite anyone you think would benefit from and enjoy this presentation. This event is free, however a $5 donation for the instructor is appreciated.

Free Women's Self Defense workshop coming to Carson CIty

A women’s self defense workshop is coming to Carson City on March 27th. he event, sponsored by the Tasmanian Boxing Club is free, but there is limited availability so it’s best to call and get on the list early. Grand Master “Master of the Arts” Tim Spellman will be unhand to introduce participants to the insights of Kenpokempo and a practical approach to self defense.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a male victim in the head, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Here are the latest arrests from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office from Friday through early Sunday morning. A 27-year-old Carson City man, Bradley Paul Steelmon, was arrested Friday, 2:20 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway on a felony warrant, insurance fraud, issued June 9, 2014 out of Tahoe Township Court.

Reno man jailed on felony charge after road rage incident involving gun

A 45-year-old Reno man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly brandishing a firearm and aiming at a person during a road rage incident in the area of South Carson and Stewart streets, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Randy Lee Baker was booked on a felony charge, suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and a gross misdemeanor charge of aiming a firearm at a person. Bail was set at $7,500.

Carson City deputies make several felony related arrests during weekend

Carson City sheriff's deputies arrested a pair Friday on felony drug conspiracy and trafficking charges after finding nearly 28 grams of methamphetamine inside a vehicle.

The arrests happened Friday, 8:54 p.m. in the area of Hot Springs and Nye. David Pomjoon Kim, 44, of Carson City and Cory Michael Harmon, 24, of Gardnerville, each face felony charges of possession of methamphetamine for sale, drug trafficking and conspiracy. They were taken to Carson City jail with bail amounts of $40,000 each.

Man arrested on domestic battery charge after allegedly biting woman on the cheek

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:52 p.m. in the 400 block of East Lee Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, Carson City sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area at 2:30 p.m. on a report of a domestic battery. Upon arrival officers spoke with a woman who was uncooperative. Officers returned to the area later and spoke with the woman again, where officers observed a fresh abrasion on the right side of her forehead, her right eyelid and left cheek.
