Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on felony charge after victim stabbed in head

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a male victim in the head, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Gerson Meza is being held on $30,000 bail. The victim was cleared by medical personnel for a puncture wound to the head. According to the arrest report, officers were called to an apartment complex in regards to a possible stabbing. Dispatch advised they were told the victim was allegedly stabbed in the head approximately 30 minutes prior.

Officers arrived at the location and observed approximately 8 to 10 people standing out in front of the apartment. The victim was sitting on the curb in front of the apartment. He told officers that Meza stabbed him in the head with what he thought was a knife. On the left side of his head he pulled his hair aside and showed the officer a small puncture wound that was still bleeding “but only very mildly,” the arrest report states.

After he was evaluated by fire and ambulance personnel, the victim told the investigating officer that he had come to the apartment to help his friend move out. When he arrived, the friend was talking to Meza. He told the officer he began to laugh at something someone else said nearby, which enraged Meza, to the point Meza pulled a knife and advanced toward him.

The victim told the officer he put his arm up in self defense and that is when Meza allegedly struck him in the head with the knife. He said Meza parents then grabbed the man and took him back into their apartment, the arrest report states.

The victim said he did not feel that he should call 911 however his sister felt the incident needed to be reported. Fire department personnel gave the officer the hat the victim was wearing. On the left side of the hat was a small hole consistent with the location of the wound to the victim’s head, the arrest report states.

A witness told officers they saw Meza attack the man with what they believed to be a kitchen knife, the arrest report states. The suspect was located and detained. He stated the victim showed up with some friends and that he told the victim he was no longer welcome to live at the apartment and that he should get his belongings. He denied any type of fight. No weapons were found on him when he was detained. He was arrested on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon.
