However this year, many stores are finally closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, and more bargain hunters are turning to online deals for their holiday shopping.

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament in remembrance of Mayor Bob Crowell will be held at Silver Oak Ranch Golf Course on Saturday. Dozens of fundraisers, including the Benson’s Feed 4 Paws 4-H group, will be scattered throughout the Carson City and Gardnerville areas. Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! Lions Club kicks off Annual 'White Cane Days' in Carson City Oct. 10 and 11

Lions will be available at the North Carson Street Save Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to bring awareness to the public of the sight preservation programs the Lions support, and to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days.

Gas smell at Carson City grocery store determined to be from semi truck blown tire at loading dock

Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

These annual events help protect the community with proper disposal of unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, prescription liquids, pet medications, syringes and more. The effort is part of the federal drug round-up initiative.
Carson City investigators seeks identity of suspect who stole debit card from elderly person

Carson City residents trained in administering drug to reverse overdose

“As a recovering heroin addict myself, I’ve seen what it does,” he said. “It sucks.”

Grocer Launches Salvation Army Fundraiser for Camp Victims

Shoppers can donate any amount at checkout and 100 percent of the proceeds will aid local victims. The donation will be printed on the receipt, so shoppers have a record of their tax deductible donation.
All Save Mart and FoodMaxx grocery stores in California and Northern Nevada are participating in this fundraiser, including those locations around Carson City.
