Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 07/03/2015 - 7:07amA woman was flown by CareFlight this morning after she was struck by a car while crossing a crosswalk on West College Parkway near Save Mart at the north end of Carson City.
The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. Traffic is being diverted around the accident scene and is under investigation, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Cullen.

Fire unfounded at Save Mart on Highway 50 East
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 03/26/2015 - 2:27pmCarson City fire crews could not locate a fire after being dispatched just after 2:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon to Save Mart on Highway 50 East. A store employee who answered the phone said they were checking it out and had evacuated the store. Crews on scene told Carson City Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Steve Albertsen that there had been an odor of paper burning near the deli area, but they couldn't located the fire. The store was closed temporarily as firefighters searched for the origin. It has now been reopened.
Carson City deputies make multiple DUI and drug related arrests over the weekend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 12/28/2014 - 2:22pmA 26-year-old Stateline man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and other charges after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Curry Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, during a consensual stop at a parked car in a movie theater parking lot at 1:57 a.m., an officer asked the man, Daniel Louis Allen, for identification.
Carson City Save Mart stores to match customer donations Friday to fight local hunger
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 12/10/2014 - 8:55amThis Friday, Dec. 12, Save Mart will match donations to Ron Wood Family Resource Center, a local Feeding America-affiliated food bank, through their Holiday "Give. Share. Care" program, for a total dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $5,000 for the day.
This initiative could not come at a more critical time for local food banks. Already stretched heading into the holiday season, recent cuts to the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps) significantly dented the food budgets of thousands of local, low-income households.

Reno couple pleads guilty to felony counterfeiting charges
Submitted by editor on Wed, 09/10/2014 - 11:28amA Reno couple pled guilty Wednesday in a Sacramento federal court to possessing counterfeit U.S. currency and counterfeit or unauthorized access devices, U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner said.
William Theodore Lewis, 50, and Lori Marie Dahl, 50, a married couple, remain in custody and are scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Kimberly J. Mueller on Dec. 10, 2014. Lewis and Dahl each face a maximum statutory penalty of 25 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.

Auto body repair scam warning issued in Carson City area
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 10/18/2013 - 3:24pmThe Carson City Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam involving a mobile auto body repairman who is asking for money to do on-the-spot vehicle repairs.
At least two residents have been taken in the scam, according to the sheriff's office, with one being followed to the bank for payment of service.

Crime Log: vandalism turns into attempt to obtain medication

Costa on Wed, 01/04/2012 - 1:39pmA Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrested Cameron Matthew Haffey, 20, a stocker from Carson City, just before 3 a.m. Wednesday at the 1800 block of North Carson Street. Around 11 p.m. Tuesday officers were dispatched to a north Carson pharmacy on a report of a broken window. Camera footage showed a suspect in dark pants and a dark coat. Later on the same deputy was passing the pharmacy and spotted a suspect that matched that description.

Bring your unused and expired prescription drugs to the drop-offs for proper disposal by the sheriff's office. Disposal protects the community and its water supply. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Acceptable items include: Unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter pills, prescription liquids, pet medications and syringes. The Lyon County roundup will not be accepting syringes or medical waste.
Carson City woman admits to stealing purse, spending money with friend on booze and smokes
Submitted by editor on Fri, 08/13/2010 - 3:29pmAn unemployed Carson City woman faces a felony grand larceny charge after admitting to stealing a woman's purse from a local casino, splitting the cash inside of it with a friend, and then buying alcohol and cigarettes.
Roseann Owens, 48, is being held on $10,000 bond at Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, the woman was seen leaning on the glass doors at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Musser Street. The woman appeared to be distressed and an officer asked her what was wrong.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for the 3-year-old daughter of a man suspected of abducting his 18-year-old girlfriend at gunpoint this morning from a Carmichael apartment.

Men charged after stealing cart of beer, booze from Carson City Save Mart
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 04/12/2010 - 3:31pmA Carson City laborer and an unemployed Reno man were arrested on felony robbery and conspiracy charges after unsuccessfully trying to steal cases of beer and a bottle of booze from Save Mart on North Carson Street.
Officers began the search for the subjects at around 7:15 p.m. on Friday after a larceny report was called in from Save Mart. An interview with a security officer gave deputies a description of the men and the license of the car they were driving.
