Carson City Save Mart gives largest donation to date to Ron Wood Family Resource Center, Food Bank
Carson City’s Save Mart donated $4,306 to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center on Friday after collecting donations from the community during the holiday season.
Donations were collected through the TARE pad, when customers were checking out their groceries and had the option to donate a few extra dollars to help those in need.
All of the Save Mart stores collect donations throughout the holiday season, said Store Manager Chris Benson, who presented the check. Each store donates to a local food bank or community resource center.
In addition, this year 6,322 pounds of food were donated by Save Mart as well in pre-filled bags that people could purchase for either $12 or $22 to be donated directly to the Ron Wood Center’s Food Bank.
“We’re so appreciative of the donations Save Mart makes,” said Ron Wood Center Executive Director Joyce Buckingham. “It’s a huge help every year.”
This year, with the combination of monetary donations and the food bank bag donations, was the largest donation the Carson City Save Mart has made to date, said Benson.
The Ron Wood Family Resource Center is located at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 62, in Carson City.
Save Mart is located at 3620 N. Carson Street at the corner of W. College Parkway in Carson City.
