Thursday Hike at Carson River Canyon hosted by Muscle Powered

Join us for free hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet at Brunswick canyon Road and Deer Run Road, one miles south of Highway 50 East.

Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more. Water and sturdy or athletic shoes are required. Hiking poles recommended.

Sitcom pilot filmed at Carson Nugget featuring SNL alum to air daily on Charter cable

UPDATE: Episodes of the new television sitcom "Casino Boss" will begin airing Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 on Charter Spectrum Cable Channel 190, the Carson Nugget said.
The program will then air daily at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. until Jan. 31, 2019.

UPDATE: Carson Nugget officials said Monday that the time and date for airing the TV sitcom "Casino Boss" have changed. It was to originally begin airing on Wednesday. We will update this when we have the correct start date.

The pilot episode of “Casino Boss,” a TV sitcom filmed this summer in Carson City about the inner workings of a casino starring comedian, actor and Saturday Night Live alum Joe Piscopo will be shown on Charter cable sometime in the near future.

CARSON CITY, Nev. – A routine review process by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium identified a question where student performance didn’t appear in line with expectation. A deeper analysis by the Smarter Balanced staff resulted in the removal of the question from 8th grade math. The result is all students that answered the question saw their performance increase. Moreover there was no material change to any school ratings.
