Carson City race director readies for Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Run

There are many aspects that go into organizing an endurance race — the logistics of the course, permits, lottery registration, aid stations and more. But for George Ruiz, director of the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Run, his overarching motivation is helping the individual runner find the strength to cross the finish line.

South Carolina-5 special election sent a powerful message

The Georgia-6 special election turned out to be a media headfake. Karen Handel, the former Republican Secretary of State with universal name recognition in a deep red district, eeked out a 3.2-point victory over Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old Democrat with no experience in elective office and no prior name recognition, and who didn't even live in the district. This narrow victory was described as a "Democratic defeat," which is a little much considering that Georgia-6 has been Republican since the 1970's.

Carson City investigators ask for help identifying thieves who stole high end race bikes

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is requesting the public’s help in identifying suspects responsible for the theft of several high dollar mountain bikes from participants of the Carson City Off-Road event held this weekend.

The Carson City area BMX community has launched its annual Race For Life campaign to help raise money in the fight to find a cure for blood-related cancers. Racers and their families can pick up collection envelopes and begin collecting donations from friends, relatives, neighbors and businesses in the community. Helping others is one of the finest things anyone can ever do in life. Donations raised will go to help fight and bring to an end a dreadful disease that affects thousands of people each year.
