Carson City Off-Road brings fat tires, epic events lineup Friday through Sunday
The second annual Carson City Off-Road adventure begins Friday with multiple races, a bike and gear expo, and a music festival complete with beer garden, food, on and off-trail and pavement thrills.
The event, sponsored by Epic Rides, features pro, amateur and novice mountain bike riders who will be greeted by thousands of cheers in a city that celebrates all things fat tire. Just be aware that downtown street closures will be in place until the last bike crosses the finish line on Sunday.
Even cycling legend Lance Armstrong is here for the ride.
FRIDAY
Events include:
— A noon to 7 p.m. Bike and Gear Expo,
— 2:30 p.m. Capital 15 Fun Ride
— The Four Peaks Beer Garden from 3:30 to 9 p.m.,
— The Fat Tire Critiums begin. Go here for info about the Crits.
— The first event is 6 p.m. with the locals Klunker Crit. Think of it as a kids race for adults. Ride for free and dress up yourself and your bikes.
— 6:30 p.m. the Pro Women Fat Tire Criterium
— 7:20 p.m. the Pro Men Fat Tire Criterium
— 8 p.m. features the Four Peaks Pro Criterium Awards and Amateur meeting on the main stage.
SATURDAY
Events kicks off early Saturday morning with a 7:15 a.m. Start of the Capital 50 on Carson Street, and an 8 a.m. start for the Capital 35 on Carson Street.

— Capital 35 Riders should be finishing up at 11:30 a.m. at the finish line and 1 p.m. for the Capital 50 finish line.
— From 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the Simano Youth Series Kids’ Ride registration.
— The Four Peaks Beer Garden opens at 10 a.m. and runs to 8 p.m.
— At 4 p.m. is the Four Peaks Awards Party on the downtown main stage and at 6:15 p.m. is the “Raise a pint to our dedication recipient Max Jones” on the Main Stage. Go here for information on the event dedication and Max Jones.
SUNDAY
— 7:30 to 8:30 is the Shimano Youth Series Kids’ Ride registration
— 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Bike and Gear Expo continues
— 8:30 a.m. is the start of the Pro Men Backcountry Race (concludes at 2 p.m.)
— 8:40 a.m. is the start of the Pro Women Backcountry Race (concludes at 2 p.m.
— 8:45 a.m. is the Start of the Shimano Youth Series Kids’ Ride
— 10 a .m. to 3 p.m. is the Four Peaks Beer Garden
— 1 p.m. is the Four Peaks Pro Awards party on the main stage.

The Four Peaks Music Festival begins Friday at 4 p.m on the McFadden Plaza Stage and lasts through Sunday. Friday night features Pickett Line. Go here to learn about the bands, the lineup and what kinds of music to expect.
Saturday’s music festival continues with 4 Piece Puzzle at 11:30 a.m. Tripping King Snakes at 1 p.m. Greta Van Fleet at 5 p.m., headliner Barrington Levy at 6:30 p.m. and Controlled Burn at 8:30 p.m.
Local groove pop band The Whitehats will close the series at 10 a.m. Sunday.
