Douglas County agencies respond to more flooding Thursday in Johnson Lane area
Douglas County Emergency Management is currently working on managing the current flooding in the Stephanie and Johnson Lane areas of Douglas County.
Douglas County has activated a flood hot line for residents who have been affected by the flooding. The number to call is (775) 782-6262 or visit douglasflood2015@gmail.com.
The Johnson Lane Firehouse Station 6 is being utilized as the local field office for citizens to report damage that has occurred in this incident.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Johnson Lane area. We are asking the general public to refrain from this area as work crews are trying to clean roadways and clear debris from ditches.
Current road closures are Stephanie Lane at Vicky Lane, Stephanie Lane and East Valley, Stephanie Lane at Downs, East Valley and Johnson Lane and at the wash on Nye Lane.
East Fork Fire Protection District, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Search and Rescue, Nevada Division of Forestry, Douglas County Road Department, Nevada Highway Patrol and State Division of Emergency Management have responded to the area and are working to evaluate the level of damage to the public infrastructure such as culverts, roads, bridges and water drainage.
The Nevada Department of Emergency Management State Damage Assessment team is on the ground in Douglas County accessing the damage and collecting data. The State emergency operation center has been activated and is working closely with the Douglas County Emergency Manager and the Douglas County Sheriff office in compiling the data that is being collected and providing resources as needed.
