Update on Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure

The Honorable James E. Wilson of the First Judicial District Court will be our guest speaker at Douglas-Carson Legal Professionals' monthly educational meeting at noon on March 6 at Red's Old 395 Grill, 1055 S Carson St., Carson City. Judge Wilson will discuss upcoming changes to the Nevada Rules of Civil procedure.

Carson City Historical Society Celebrates 50 Years

CCHS Board members and volunteers celebrate 50th anniversary.

Following a Carson City Historical Society Board meeting on Feb. 11, Board members gathered for a little celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the CCHS.

The Nevada Landmarks Society (NLS) was founded on February 11, 1969, in order to preserve the Roberts House, the yellow Gothic Revival-style house at 1207 North Carson St., now known as the Foreman-Roberts House. The NLS later became the Carson City Historical Society.

Carson High to celebrate CTE Month with Governor Sisolak Thursday

Students and educators at Carson High School will celebrate national Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in an invitation-only event with a special visit from Nevada State Governor Steve Sisolak, Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8:45 a.m. in Senator Square at Carson High School. Event seating begins at 8:30 a.m. with the Governor’s address at 8:45 a.m.

Carson City Supervisors to discuss contracts, grants, appointments at Feb. 7 meeting

On Thursday, Feb. 7 the Board of Supervisors and Redevelopment Authority will hold a meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.

Under discussion at the February meeting will be purchases and contracts, appointments in the Redevelopment Authority Citizen’s Community, grants for Parks and Recreation, and more.

Time for golf!! The Silver Oak Senior Men’s Golf Club (SOSMGC) has officially teed it up for the 2019 golf season.

SOSMGC is open to golfers 55 years of age and older, and all handicap levels. Dues are $75 and includes your membership and handicap posting in the Northern Nevada Golf Association GHIN service.

As a member, you are entitled to reduced green fees anytime you play Silver Oak in 2019. The season tees off on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. There will be coffee and donuts served opening day at 8 a.m. along with a short informational meeting.

Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range open Sundays only for now

Due to verified reports involving the likelihood of stray bullets entering into populated areas originating from the discharge of firearms at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range, a temporary operating schedule was implemented along with the increased presence of Range Safety Officers made available by the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club, the city’s non-profit partner for the operation of the range.

Tazmanian Boxing Club cuts ribbon on new Carson City location

In a strong showing of community support, Tazmanian Boxing Club owner Francisco Rodriguez cut the ribbon to his gym's new 8,000 square-foot fitness facility Saturday morning with the help of family, friends, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and Carson City Board of Supervisors.
