Fire crews from around the region responded to lightning sparked fires early Monday morning to the south, north and east of Carson City. Thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday possibly into Wednesday for northeastern California and western Nevada.

A Red Flag Warning for western and northern Nevada including the Carson City and Lake Tahoe areas has been issued for Sunday by the National Weather Service due to the threat of new fire starts from dry lightning strikes.

Monsoonal moisture will begin to move northward from low pressure off the West Coast bringing increased chances for isolated thunderstorms to Carson City and western Nevada on Sunday and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Wildfires have been reported this evening in the Dayton and Silver Springs/Stagecoach areas, with Carson City Fire Department being asked to help as part of a mutual aid effort, according to dispatch.

A cold front is moving through the Carson City region bringing cooler temperatures, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

The fourth fire to burn around South Lake Tahoe this week burned nearly three acres early Friday morning in heavy brush on a steep slope above Pioneer Trail.

The voluntary evacuation orders for about 50 residents in the area has been lifted, and those residents are being allowed to return to their homes.
No injuries are reported with this fire.

East Fork Fire Protection District crews in Douglas County were called late afternoon Thursday to a wildfire in the area of Diamond Valley School in Alpine County near Markleeville.
