Thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday possibly into Wednesday for northeastern California and western Nevada.

At 1:29 p.m. Doppler radar was tracking thunderstorms near Spooner Summit southwest of Carson City, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Wildfires have been reported this evening in the Dayton and Silver Springs/Stagecoach areas, with Carson City Fire Department being asked to help as part of a mutual aid effort, according to dispatch.

Smokey haze around Carson from lightning-caused fires
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Fri, 07/29/2016 - 11:20amUPDATE 4:15PM: The Sierra Interagency Dispatch Center (SFIDC) in Minden reports the Rock Fire in the Red Rock area north of Reno is now 50 percent contained 1,500 acres.
The voluntary evacuation orders for about 50 residents in the area has been lifted, and those residents are being allowed to return to their homes.
No injuries are reported with this fire.

Memorial services will be held for Bureau of Land Management wild land firefighters Jacob O’Malley and Will Hawkins, who lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident July 10 on Nevada State Route 140.
