Carson City weather: Chance of thunderstorms through Monday
After months without any rainfall, there's a chance for thunderstorms that could produce some rain around the Carson City region over the next two days, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms on Sunday may bring a mix of wet and dry, with a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms for the Carson City and Carson Valley areas Sunday and even more of a chance for Dayton areas Sunday and Monday into the evening.
The possibility of thunderstorms stretch throughout the region, including Lake Tahoe and the Sierra, northeast California, and northwest Nevada.
These storms could bring lightning and new fire starts are possible outside of storm cores. Strong and gusty outflow winds are also expected that could rapidly spread any new fire starts in addition to blowing around any loose outdoor items, according to the weather service.
Storm coverage will increase on Monday with wetter storms likely, according to the weather service. Locally heavy rainfall may bring a flash flood concern for recent burn scars, so anyone with interests in these areas should be sure to pay close attention to ongoing conditions, the weather service advises.
