Carson City area weekend weather: Saturday sunny and hot, possible thunderstorms by Sunday
Monsoonal moisture will begin to move northward from low pressure off the West Coast bringing increased chances for isolated thunderstorms to Carson City and western Nevada on Sunday and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Strong outflow winds and dry lightning strikes are possible with these storms Sunday. These storms may produce little to no rain, so new fire starts could occur with any lightning that accompanies them. Moisture will continue to filter in across the region with shower and thunderstorm coverage becoming more widespread Monday and increasing through western Nevada.
Localized areas of small hail, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding will be possible heading into early next week particularly in recent wildfire burn scars.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, there's a chance for thunderstorms Sunday through Tuesday. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 90s for Saturday and Sunday. Monday's high will be around 90 and Tuesday's in the upper 80s, according to the weather service.
Looking to cool off from the heat? Temperatures in the Lake Tahoe Basin will be in the mid-80s this weekend.
