Weather Service advises of thunderstorms moving into Carson City, Lake Tahoe areas
The National Weather Service in Reno issued a Special Weather Statement Thursday afternoon regarding the potential for afternoon thunderstorms. At 1:29 p.m. Doppler radar was tracking thunderstorms near Spooner Summit southwest of Carson City, moving northeast at 15 mph.
Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, brief heavy rainfall, possible small hail, and lightning can be expected with these storms through 2:15 p.m., according to the weather service.
Locations impacted include Carson City, Spooner Summit and Sand Harbor.
