The Mile High Jazz Band Association recently produced a video, "Virtual Jazz & Poetry: Running Out." The video contains six short acts, each consisting of the reading of a poem and the performance of a related piece of music.

Mile High Band and vocalist Jakki Ford have cancelled their performance originally scheduled for April 14 at Living the Good Life Bistro, which is closed except for takeout and delivery following the COVID-19 directives. Their next performance there, planned for May 12, may also be postponed or cancelled.

Heading into Tuesday, sunny skies and more springlike weather are ahead before active weather patterns start up again later in the week. It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Mile High Jazz Band and Carson Middle School’s Royal Blue Jazz Band present the 17th annual combined Jazz Extravaganza concert, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at 7 p.m., in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Mile High Jazz Band Association announces that mannequins will be auctioned off by silent auction during Jazz & Beyond concerts. Proceeds benefit Carson City Arts and Culture Coalition's scholarship fund for a student of the arts.

Each poem will be followed by a related big-band tune. The event will be at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. It runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 at the door and free for age 18 and under.
