Events around Carson City for Tuesday, Feb. 11
With sunny skies and daytime highs in the 50s, Tuesday is shaping up to be a great day around the capital city. Muscle Powered will host morning and evening walks, plus there's an assortment of meetings, club gatherings, art showings, a local school board meeting and more. At the end of the day, there's no better way to cap off the evening than by celebrating, with your sweetheart, music about love. That will be what's happening at Living the Good Life as Mile High Jazz Band and our celebrated vocalist Jakki Ford will do just that presenting "Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts." Read on for details.
Do you have an event or happening you'd like people to know about? Tell us about it by clicking here, filling out the details and we'll tell Carson City area readers about your event or happening. Not seeing your event you wish to promote? You can also submit the relevant information, also known as the "5Ws and How” to editor@carsonow.org. We will update this calendar as submissions are made.
Here's what's happening Tuesday:
— Help Spread Awareness and Rock Some Orange. February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to loveisrespect.org, nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year. It is critically important that we speak to our kids about what healthy relationships look like and what to do if they turn abusive. Show your support for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month by wearing orange Tuesday, Feb. 11. Make sure to encourage your friends, family, and coworkers to do the same. Rock some orange and share your photo with us using the hashtags #Orange4Love #TDVAM20 #AEDVCC.
— Win a Valentines Date Night from Carson Now. Valentines Day is almost here, and Carson Now wants to give one lucky couple a date night to remember. We will be giving away a spa package worth $50 from Carson Hot Springs, plus a $50 gift certificate to Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint. To win, submit a story about what makes your Valentine special to you. You can also add photos or links to a video with the entry if you want. Go here to submit your stories: https://carsonnow.org/submit
Make sure to include your name and email address. Deadline for entry is Feb. 12, 2020. We will pick the winning entry based on how many likes and shares it gets on Facebook. The winner will be announced on Feb. 13.
