Eagle Lake After Snowstorm

Eagle Lake, California after a Snowstorm
Event Date:
December 15, 2014 (All day)

Hopefully Eagle Lake, California, is looking like this wintry foggy scene today. Carson City received some morning snow, and hopefully it snowed much more in the High Sierra.
This beautiful large lake is now almost dry, and we need another good winter of snow for the lake to fill up with water again. This photo was taken at Eagle Lake a few years ago, right after a snowstorm. Eagle Lake is about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Carson City. It's an easy trip, from Carson City north up 395 to Susanville, then west on Hwy 36, climbing to the lake.

Winter conditions will impact travel across Sierra passes from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday as a deep system pushes onshore out of the Pacific. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of the Sierra.

Stunning Sky over Carson City

The Bright Carson Sky with a Brilliant Rainbow

The western sky above Carson City was stunning yesterday, with a quick changing mixture of cool breezes, way cooler breezes, drizzling rain, more wind, huge clouds, then bright sunshine, and even a brilliant rainbow or two.

This panoramic photo view looking north was taken around noon at the Mountain Street Trailhead Park, which is just north of Fleischmann Way at 1340 Mountain Street.

The Meadow Fire burning in Yosemite National Park continues to grow, with smoke expected to impact the Carson City and Carson Valley areas though it has been minimal because of rain showers throughout the region.
