New brewery coming to Carson City

For brothers Jeff and Paul Young of Carson City, becoming professional brewers just seemed to fit like the right pair of sneakers.
Their company, the Shoe Tree Brewing Company, is scheduled to break ground on its roughly 2,000 square-foot brewery and retail space Monday on the Carson Hot Springs Resort property located at 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.
Lake Tahoe Brewing closes throughout the region amid legal troubles

What would've been the region's largest locally-owned beer franchise fizzled down to nothing after a series of legal troubles flattened the brand.

J and M Productions offer over 60 thousand songs to choose from, so karaoke at the Firkin and Fox is always a hit.

This year, if we round out the never-ending number to just six digits, we get today’s date: 3.1416. For those with fewer attachments to mathematical constants, it’s still a great reason to enjoy a piece of pie. Check out the selection that Comma Coffee has whipped up for the occasion. Fathers and daughters will want to make note of the Second Annual Father-Daughter Dance at Carson High School. Tickets for the April 8 event are on sale now, just head to Carson High from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

That change should arrive beginning late Friday into Saturday with gusty winds and rain around Carson City and snow in the Sierra that may lower to the valley floors by Sunday.

Have a leisurely lunch at Comma Coffee while listening to Dennis on the Piano. Toast the day with a mimosa at Ed’s Doghouse. Raise your glass to for a good cause: Suds for Seniors is raising money for the Meals on Wheels Program. A $15 ticket will get you a sample of five beers at the Feisty Goat Pub or at the Firkin and Fox. Might as well stick around the Firkin for karaoke and some yummy grub.

Head to Buffalo Wild Wings and let them know you’re there for Relay. Round out the Valentine’s Day weekend by singing some love songs: karaoke at Firkin and Fox is always a good time.

The Nevada Artist Association Gallery at the Brewery Art Center will be changing its exhibit at the end of the week, so go take a last peek at what’s on display.

6th Annual CHS Safe & Sober 5k Run/Walk a Success

We had a great turn-out with 104 sign-ups and 88 participants. The weather was the best it’s been for the past five years – even after many inches of snow earlier in the week!

Tonight, head to the Firkin and Fox for dinner and some karaoke. The High Sierra Swing Dance Club is at El Charro Avita this evening, which means there will be plenty of people to boogie with.

Lake Tahoe Brewing Company closes Carson City location
Submitted by admin on Fri, 01/29/2016 - 1:50pmLake Tahoe Brewing Company owner Michael Candelario announced this week that the downtown Carson City location at the corner of South Carson and West Proctor streets is "temporarily closing."
Candelario sent a letter to his employees earlier this week stating that the brewery had been operating at reduced capacity because of problems with their brewing equipment. He later confirmed to Carson Now that the main problem is with the boiler unit that they are not able to fix.
Permit for Carson City medical marijuana facility approved

Recycling your Christmas tree (sans decorations, of course) is an easy way to get your carbon footprint headed in the right direction.
