Beer and barbecue festival Saturday at Lake Tahoe's MontBleu
Beer lovers don’t have to wait until fall to celebrate the region’s finest microbrews. MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa will roll out barrels from dozens of area brewmasters Saturday, Aug. 9 for the first Tahoe Craft BeerFest.
With more than 45 brewers on tap and plenty of barbecue, live music, games, and competition, the festival will be a summer celebration of frosty, sudsy, hoppy handcrafted brews made around California and Nevada.
Among the brewers featured will be Stone IPA Brewing, Drakes Brewing and Nikasi Brewing. Lake Tahoe area beer makers include St. James Brasserie, High Sierra Brewing and Great Basin Brewing.
Admission is $25 and provides a MontBleu tasting glass and unlimited tasting from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., plus access to games, competitions, and live music on stage from local favorites Cool Black Kettle and The Connor Band. Tickets are available at the MontBleu Box Office. Go here for more information.
There will be plenty of food specials for purchase as grills will be fired hot and stacked high with bbq’d sizzling ribs, juicy tri-tip sandwiches, charbroiled chicken and all the fixings.
And what’s a beer and barbecue festival without some backyard games? Party-goers can participate in a life-size Jenga tower or wrap and contort themselves with Twister squares, or take in a few friendly games of summertime favorites, cornhole and beach ball.
Celebrate summer with suds, sun, music, and barbecue at this inaugural event and then cap off the day with tickets to Chris Isaak appearing in the MontBleu Theater.
