HopeFest free outdoor concert tonight to benefit local cancer patients
UPDATE: The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to host HopeFest 2014, an outdoor concert tonight, Friday, offering free admission with all sales on food, drinks and raffle tickets directly benefitting local cancer patients.
Nationally famed folk-rock band, Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours known for their cowboy jazz, Tex-Mex groove and soulful R&B dance tunes will be the headlining performers. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center located at 1535 Medical Parkway, Carson City.
“In addition to facing a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, many patients are also faced with the overwhelming anxiety surrounding the unplanned expenses that come with it,” said Kitty McKay, Development Officer for the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation. “The funds raised at HopeFest provide critical support with no-cost lodging (for rural cancer patients in need) and assistance with things like gas money to get to treatment, insurance co-pays and life-saving medications.”
The event raffle is sponsored by Dick Campagni’s car dealerships, which for the past seven years have donated the choice of a new car or $10,000 as the grand raffle prize. In addition, Firkin & Fox and High Sierra Brewery Company donate all the food, drinks and hand-crafted beer and wine for sale at the event. The generosity of the event sponsors allows for 100 percent of the proceeds to go directly to local patients.
Guests interested in attending can simply show up at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center at 5p.m. and support the cause by buying food and drinks, raffle tickets, and tribute flags. As an incentive to register early for the event, concertgoers who register in advance will be entered in the contest to win 6 raffle tickets.
You can register at www.carsontahoe.com/hopefest. For questions about the event or to make a donation to support local cancer patients, please call 775-445-5161 or email info@carsontahoe.org. See last year's HopeFest promotion video below.
Since 1998, the CTH Foundation has been encouraging and accepting gifts of all types that contribute to the health and well-being of Northern Nevada and California.
The Foundation was instrumental in the construction of the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, the only cancer center in Nevada toreceive a gold level designation by the Commission on Cancer. Foundation efforts helped establish housing for cancer patients in need through the Merriner Cottages.
The Foundation Board is comprised of knowledgeable, caring staff and volunteers who direct the use of donations for equipment, facilities and services of Carson Tahoe Health. To learn more, go to www.carsontahoe.org.
