Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Heading into Tuesday, August 27, 2019 we're looking at continued hot weather around the capital city, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s. Ahead is a job fair at the Carson Nugget, a Fat Tuesday business networking gathering, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, free skin cancer testing offered by Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness Institute, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs and more.

This is a six-week program for women of all ages, whether you’re looking to improve your sexual function, increase bladder and bowel control or help prevent the need for future surgeries. Led by a physical therapist or a certified trainer, the twice-per-week, 60-minute classes include 15 minutes of education and 45 minutes of exercise. Classes start July 16th and are weekly every Tuesday and Thursday from 4–5 PM at the Health and Wellness Institute (suite 250, 1470 Medical Pkwy).

Cost is $50 per six-week course.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is excited to announce the official date for their annual fundraiser, HopeFest8, in support of local cancer patients.

From 5pm-6pm Syndi Skilling will discuss the different phone apps to download and use. Then from 6pm-7pm John Sutton, DO will talk about the use of analog insulin vs. Human insulin to manage diabetes, (evaluating prescription costs vs, treatment effectiveness.) To Kickoff Diabetes Awareness Month the Health and Wellness Institute will have David Johnson talking about insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome from 11am-12pm.
