Military gives thanks to RSVP, Carson City community for Christmas package drive to troops
Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program received notes of thanks recently following its "Christmas Packages to Our Troops" donation drive.
Over the holidays, RSVP teamed up with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office to collect and send Christmas packages to U.S. Military troops serving overseas. The Project was organized by Gardnerville resident Sally Wiley.
Christmas cookies, signed Christmas cards, hot chocolate, and non-perishable foods were among the wish list items packaged up and sent off.
Two notes were written and received, one by Sam Fred and the other by U.S. Army Chaplain Burris, to Wiley that stated the following:
"Ms. Wiley: The Warrior Center USO was gifted with your wonderful care packages today. Many thanks to you and all involved. It is much appreciated."
The other note states: "Ma'am, thank you for the care package. Please extend my thanks to all who were involved. The boost to morale is greater than you will ever know. Blessings."
