NDOT is hiring temporary highway maintenance workers, including snow plow and anti-icing operations and assisting in highway emergency response, among other duties.

The Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Mono County, Mineral and Southern Lyon counties, Hawthorne, Yerington, Smith Valley, Mina, Schurz, Fernley, Fallon, Lovelock, Silver Springs, Nixon, and Imlay. Carson City, and Carson Valley are not in the Wind Advisory area.

Community of Thanks: Lyon County Schools served over 178K meals during distance learning
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 06/08/2020 - 1:12pmBeginning on March 16, 2020, Lyon County School District students and the students of all Nevada schools were asked to stay home — a measure taken by our government leadership in response to the world health crisis surrounding the COVID-19.
With the uncertainty surrounding how long the stay-at-home distance learning would be in place, LCSD Nutrition Services and LCSD Transportation quickly devised a plan to keep the children of the Lyon County community fed —this included any child under the age of 18, even if they were not a student of LCSD.
