Nevada State Bank Secured Approval For 4200+ PPP Loans, Helping Northern Nevada Businesses And NonProfits

RENO - Based on processed applications as of May 13, 2020, Nevada State Bank has announced approval for 4,255 U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans totaling $592,005,500.

More than 68% of the loans were made to businesses with fewer than 10 employees and approximately 82% of the loans approved were for amounts less than $150,000 (57% for amounts less than $50,000). The funding will help preserve payrolls for 65,607 Nevada jobs, based on applicant data.

Multiple fires burning near I-80 in Wadsworth area

UPDATE 5:10PM: The fires are 80 percent contained, and burned around 30 acres. A number of power poles were damaged, according to Truckee Meadows Fire. The cause is under investigation.

Carson City area weather: Light snow expected Thursday morning prompts advisory

UPDATE Thursday: A band of heavier snow showers will move across western Nevada this afternoon. Areas from Reno to Fernley to Fallon and south to Carson City, Virginia City, and Yerington have the best chances of seeing a quick light accumulation. This includes Interstate 80 east of Reno, Highway 580 in Washoe Valley, and Highway 50 east of Carson City to Fallon. Accumulations will range from a dusting up to a quick half inch in these areas. We can't rule out spots of near one inch snowfall mainly on non-paved surfaces.

UNR Extension offers no cost radon test kits, presentations to reduce lung cancer risks

RENO — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 1 through Feb. 29. Radon test kits are available at Extension offices and partnering locations, as well as at free presentations, statewide.
