Carson City deputies arrest man for grand larceny after he drove away with new car from car dealership

A 66-year-old Bristol Bay, NV man was arrested in the 3200 block of South Carson Street for grand larceny and possession of stolen property after stealing a car from a car dealership.

According to the report, deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle with the reported suspect listed as Greg Poole. Dispatch advised that MOST had contacted Poole earlier in the week and he was staying at a local motel.

Deputies went to the motel and the owner said that Poole had rented a room from him for five days, and that when he arrived he was dropped off by taxi, but when he had been told to check out he arrived in a new Dodge Durango and checked out soon after the vehicle was allegedly stolen.

Deputies went to the car dealership where the car was reported stolen. Deputies met with an employee who advised there had been a suspicious male in the store previously in the week and again that morning.

The employee stated the man had identified himself as Greg Poole and that he had sat in one of the vehicles and had left behind a military ID card that identified him as such.

The employee said that he had come in that morning and after he left it was discovered one of the vehicles was missing from the lot. The employe said the vehicle had the keys in it and when he reviewed the security camera footage, Poole could be seen entering the vehicle and driving away with it.

Deputies reviewed the security footage.

An attempt to locate was issued to all surrounding agencies, and dispatch advised that the vehicle had been located in front of a store on Topsy Lane.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and went into the store with the detective who located the vehicle.

He was taken into custody without incident for grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

Deputies arrested Braulio Orozco-Garcia after South Lake Police Department officers and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies advised they were in pursuit of a vehicle with no plates which was heading eastbound on U.S. 50, and they were requesting Carson’s assistance.

The driver, Orozco-Garcia, was identified in a felony hit and run on Aug. 7 in South Lake Tahoe, and police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and it failed to yield, according to the report.

The vehicle continued into Douglas County and Douglas was also attempting to stop the vehicle. As the vehicle approached South Carson Street, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies advised they were setting up spike strips on Highway 50 west.

Deputies were advised the Orozco-Garcia was armed with a knife.

As the vehicle came down the hill the spikes were deployed, which were successful in their attempt to flatten the vehicle’s tire.

Carson City deputies pulled in behind the vehicle and followed it slowly for some time, until the vehicle suddenly stopped, and deputies hit the left rear fender of the vehicle with the front left quarter panel of their patrol unit.

Deputies gave verbal commands to Orozco-Garcia and told him to exit the vehicle and show his hands.

Orozco-Garcia then exited the vehicle and was verbally aggressive. He was placed in handcuffs and the other subjects in the vehicle were removed and also placed in handcuffs.

Deputies spoke with the juveniles who stated they knew Orozco-Garcia from school and had gone with him in his vehicle to get drinks and go for a ride when Orozco-Garcia pulled up to South Lake officers and stated he “owns them,” according to the report.

This started the pursuit with the South Lake officers, the juveniles said. They said they both attempted to get him to stop the vehicle.
