Carson City doesn’t light up our downtown until next Friday, but if you need an immediate fix of holiday decorations, Minden has got you covered. Candy Cane Lane at the Carson Valley Inn is a custom outdoor drive-thru Christmas light display. ‘Nevada Christmas’ is a private home on Chaparral Court, just off Stephanie Way, and puts the holly jollies into the holiday.

To aid me in that endeavor, I looked up the new kid in town: Heather Leonard at Brown Bear Designs and Associates located at 1492 US-395, Suite 103, in Gardnerville. Delicious fall scents and soft music welcomed me through the door.

Highway 395 now open as progress being made on Chris Fire in Mono County

Highway 395 remains closed Tuesday at the Nevada-California state line as firefighters continue to battle the Chris Fire that began Monday west of U.S. Route 395, about five miles north of Sonora Junction near the Chris Flat Campground.

Executive Director Lisa Lee pushed the doors open at 9 a.m. to greet an eager crowd of dozens who gathered to get their first look and bargains at the thrift store's new home.

Pick-up Soccer Tournament Saturday morning to benefit injured CHS students

Organized by Junior Ramirez, a member of Carson Futbol Club, the soccer tournament will be held at Talents Athletic Center: 2749B North Carson Street on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Teams must be 6 person. The fundraising fee is $50 per team. Teams can be co-ed.

So, when she marked herself safe on Facebook from the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church, my heart dropped into my stomach. I called her and she relayed who she knew who had been shot. Eight people she knew died, five of them from the same family. Five more were injured. My heart rose to my throat.
