Big turnout at new thrift store home operated by Carson City domestic violence shelter
Classy Seconds Thrift Store, a revenue arm of Advocates To End Domestic Violence shelter, held its grand opening Saturday at its new Gordon Street building in Carson City.
Executive Director Lisa Lee pushed the doors open at 9 a.m. to greet an eager crowd of dozens who gathered to get their first look and bargains at the thrift store's new home.

Lee described the crowd in two words, “Amazing. Overwhelming.”
Both registers had lines that at times reached the back of the room with thrift-savvy shoppers clutching holiday decorations, clothes, and various items.
“I think we are the most reasonable thrift store in town,” Lee said. “We want you to get a good deal.”
Classy Seconds posts a monthly calendar on its Facebook page here, listing various discount days and events. Customers can receive a half-off discount for clothing on Sundays and Wednesdays as well.
During the grand opening Saturday, shoppers were enjoying a 25 percent off any purchase until 8 p.m. Classy Seconds is located at 3590 Gordon Street, Carson City. The store opens daily at 10 a.m., 9 a.m. on Saturdays.
The new facility, now owned outright by Advocates to End Domestic Violence, replaces the former facility at 411 Hot Springs Road.
A soft opening was held Thursday.
Since 1979, AEDV has extended its hand in aid to victims of domestic violence, supplying them with food, clothing and shelter. Classy Seconds opened in 1997 to serve as both a thrift resource for its client base and a revenue generator for the organization.
