Highway 395 shut down at Nevada-California state line due to Mono County fire
A wild fire is actively burning Monday in Mono County on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Bridgeport Ranger District west of US Highway 395 about five miles north of Sonora Junction, near Chris Flat Campground.
The Chris Fire is actively burning in grass, brush, and timber and as of Monday afternoon is around 200 acres, according to the Forest Service. A traffic accident in the Walker Canyon sparked the wildfire.
U.S. Highway 395 is closed both northbound and southbound from Bridgeport, Calif., to the Nevada state line. Access to California State Route 108 is available for Northbound Highway 395 travelers, as well as access to Walker, Calif., for Southbound Highway 395 travelers.
