Good morning Carson City and welcome to Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019. We hope your work week started off on the right foot even though the weather outside has been unpredictable, with sunshine one day and clouds the next. Today we're looking at a slight chance of rain showers, around 20 percent after 11 a.m., and otherwise mostly cloudy skies and a high of 54.

Community members are invited to free workshops for guiding the Carson City Library’s five-year strategic plan, with the first workshop Feb. 16, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including morning refreshments and lunch.

The Carson City Photo Club announced this month's winners of its monthly photo contest. The club meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Carson City Sheriff's Office. All levels of photographers are welcome. The theme addressed by this month's winners was "Food."

Hello Carson City and welcome to Monday, Jan. 28, 2019. Even though we're in the center of winter doesn't mean we can't enjoy the spring-like weather while lasts. Today will bring partly sunny skies with a high around 53. There's a slight chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 50s. Another winter storm is lurking out toward the end of the week so stay tuned.

Could we be in the dog days of January? Sunday is shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous and unseasonably warm for this time of year with a forecast high of 61 degrees and mostly sunny skies.

Even though we are still in the middle of Winter, that doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy beautiful, Spring-like weather while lasts.

Sunday should be a great day to be out and about, so come to the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation’s open house at the Wungnema House, Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

Billy Lavelle's newest set of wheels is unlike anything else on the Northern Nevada food truck scene.

This weekend is shaping up to resemble a false Spring, with unseasonably warm temperatures forecast by Sunday. Saturday should see sunny skies and a high temperature near 50 degrees.

District attorneys from Douglas and Washoe counties will hold a joint press conference Monday to discuss the latest on possible murder charges against Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a suspect in the murders of two women in Gardnerville and an elderly couple in South Reno.

Friends of the Carson City Library is looking for ways to better serve the community, and, in turn, better support the library.

The organization, which provides funding to the Carson City Library, is asking the community to take a survey.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new location of Intimate Designs (ID) Floral Wednesday night, with Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell doing the honors.

CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER

A new study published by a team of researchers from the University of Nevada, Reno, the Desert Research Institute and the National Weather Service in Reno suggests that effective communication isn’t only about sharing information on upcoming weather events, it’s about building trust and common ground between forecasters and the public.

Schools and most all state, local and national government offices are closed for the day. Ahead, skies are clearing and the storm overnight has begun to move out. After 10 a.m. the National Weather services says we will have sunny skies with a high of 39.

And more than 100 singers and instrumentalists bring you Mendelssohn’s spectacular “Elijah.” Hear the concert at Carson Valley Methodist Church in Gardnerville on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Other performances Feb. 9-17 in Incline, South Lake, and Reno.

Carson Now will bring live coverage of a press conference today, Sunday, 1 p.m., at the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in Reno. The press conference is regarding an arrest made in Carson City that is linked to the ongoing homicide investigations.
