The first weekend of 2019 also means the first Saturday of the month, which is the day of the Downtown Business Association Monthly Wine Walk in downtown Carson City, come rain, snow, wind or shine.
That's a good thing, too, because this weekend will likely have all of that.

Nevada Lore Series: Walker Lake's famed sea monster, Cecil the Serpent

The legend of Cecil seems to have been first written down in the early-to-mid 1800s, when Nevada was first being explored by white settlers looking to spread out and maybe try their hand at finding gold or homesteading.

Carson City man arrested for attempted laundromat burglary; five arrested for domestic battery

The 28-year-old was arrested after allegedly robbing a local laundromat.

Muscle Powered Saturday hike to Prison Hill: Dead Truck Trail and North Loop

A moderately challenging hike that travels up Dead Truck Trail, around the North Loop Trail, and then returns back down Dead Truck Trail. Entire hike, including distance from the parking area, is seven miles. The link below displays all the hiking trails.
Beekeepers gather for holiday party, recognize Carson City designation as state's Bee City USA

Through the efforts of this dynamic organization, Carson City was recently designated as Nevada’s first Bee City USA. It is the 76th Bee City USA.
