King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m., Tim Renner will teach a lesson in intermediate West Coast swing. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers. Free beginner lesson starts at 6:30 p.m.
Youth Theatre Carson City to hold Thursday workshop and Saturday auditions for Annie, Jr.

Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Sept. 7

Crews will be striping roadways throughout the city weekdays between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Minor delays are expected on roadways that are being striped while the work occurs.

Over 400 events have been held across the Silver State since Nevada Day 2013, in celebration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, with many more ahead. Kingsbury Grade closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday

This year’s parade theme, “Happy 150th Birthday, Nevada” encourages Silver State revelers to salute Nevada’s Oct. 31 1864 admission to the union as the 36th state.
"We at Nevada Day are very pleased to be adding three new events to this year's Nevada Day Celebration, in addition to bringing back reoccurring favorites," said Nevada Day committee president Ken Hamilton.

Tahoe Peace Concert brings celebration to Sand Harbor

The World Concert, an original blend of diverse musicians, aerialists and dancers, is produced by Trails and Vistas, a Truckee, CA-based nonprofit organization dedicated to producing inspiring art events in nature, in collaboration with the Truckee Tahoe Peace Project.

Parents interested in enrollment or just seeking information are being asked to attend and bring nessecary documents such as birth certificate, utility bill, immunization records, and I.D, should they decide to enroll as space is limited to only 24 children per grade level.

Enrollment underway for Nevada Performance Academy, fall opening in the works

The academy currently has 70 applications and is seeking to enroll another 50 students grades 7 through 12 who want to be a part of an innovative school that will work towards a student’s academic success as well as cater to their talents and special interests. The school is located at 1600 Snyder Avenue in Carson City.

The courtyard is adjacent to Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, which is across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general, free for age 18 and under.

Carson St. Vintage 1950s-‘60s dance music will be played, and costumes of that era are encouraged. The fun includes dance, hula hoop, costume and limbo contests and door prizes. Cost is $5 for car show participants, $7 for members of HSSDC and Reno’s Biggest Little Swing Dance Club, $10 general for individuals and $15 for couples.

Cabrera just so happened to be the first “official” customer of the new McDonalds on Winnie Lane and Carson Streets. She was among the 300 first customers, all of which received a free Big Mac per week for a year. Other prizes were given to customers as well: gift cards, coupons for free coffee, free ice cream cones. These gifts were the reason hundreds — well over that first 300 — lined up hours before the store officially opened at 6 p.m.

August auditions for Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company's 'My Fair Lady'
