Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space invites the community to the inaugural Homestead Holidays event at Silver Saddle Ranch, Dec. 13-15, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Homestead Holidays is intended to be an old-fashioned holiday celebration with handcrafted decorations, holiday lights ornamenting historic ranch buildings, and family activities for all ages.

Events around the capital city area include a post Nevada Day Trash Mob cleanup, a morning bike ride, Pow Wow activities at the MAC, the RSVP carnival at Mills Park as well as as tours of the Wungnema House, also in the park, Thomas the Train activities Virginia City and more. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

Counting down the hours until the Nevada Day weekend celebration begins, we're heading into Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 with sunny skies in the forecast through Sunday. Thursday opens the first of the four-day annual RSVP Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park with $1 ride family night hosted by Carson City Toyota. Other activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities, a gold and silver rush presentation at the Nevada State Museum and more.

The Silver State celebrates its birthday this week in Carson City and will put on a statehood celebration like no other as Nevada Day comes into full swing, featuring the annual parade down Carson Street on Saturday, a carnival at Mills Park, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, activities for adults and kids, contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit every wild hair.

An all-ages Halloween costume contest like no other in the Silver State will be hosted by RSVP during the Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Pumpkin patch with a huge selection of pumpkins, pumpkin decorating, carnival games, face painting, bounce houses, pony rides, bungee trampoline, rock climbing, live bluegrass with Kyle Ledson, Incline Mariachi Band, IHS Jazz Band, magician, balloon twisting, Bam Dog food truck, Tahoe Empanadas, BBQ, beer garden, silent auction, raffle, local craft vendors, and MORE! Admission is FREE and tickets to participate in activities can be purchased at the gate.

2019 is the 34th Year RSVP will host the Annual Nevada Day Carnival in Carson City,
a benefit for RSVP’s volunteer driver program, respite care, homemaker services and other lifesaving volunteer programs that help seniors maintain their dignity, self-respect and independence.

Heading into Sunday, July 7, 2019 activities lined up around the Carson City region feature a Muscle Powered bike ride, train rides, the final day of the carnival at Mills Park, music, concerts and more. Look for sunny skies and a daytime high in the low to mid 80s. Enjoy your day.

The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. Celebrating more than three decades of rides, games and fun, 2019 marks the 34th year that Nevada Rural Counties RSVP will host its Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City, May 9-12.

A record-breaking winter, a full lake and a packed calendar beckons visitors to the Sierra as Tahoe South heats up with summer events including its famed fireworks show, a celebrity golf tournament, star-studded headline concerts and more.

This weekend appears to have gone to the dogs — and cats — as Maddie's Pet Adoption Days continue Saturday at venues throughout the Carson City area.

Just because Nevada Day and the parade are over doesn't mean there isn't anything to do around Carson City on Sunday. Take advantage of the last of a three-day weekend, relax or have some more fun.
