Multiple lighting strikes Tuesday night have sent the Carson City Fire Department to brush fire calls off of Old Clear Creek Road and in the Goni Road and Duck Hill areas.

Nevada brings home additional $21 million in federal transportation funds

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation has announced that approximately $21.6 million in additional federal highway spending authority has been made available for Nevada road projects through redistribution of Federal Highway Administration fiscal year-end funds.

Carson City sheriff's investigators ask for help locating runaway teen

UPDATE: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that a runaway teenager reported publicly on Tuesday has been found safe.
The teen, Lyndi Day, was found safe on Sept. 13 in Carson City after a tip was received from an anonymous citizen, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Detective Steve Olson.

Carson City Kiwanis hosts Saturday of golf, running and lifting for pancreatic cancer awareness

Avery Hudak, 22, tied for first place in last year’s Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day 5K.
While it was a personal accomplishment for the runner, it was also a victory for her mother, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2014.

Carson City Fire Department was called Tuesday afternoon to a brush fire in the area of Snyder Avenue due east of Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

Thunderstorms developing in the Sierra, western Nevada

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are developing Tuesday afternoon in the Sierra and are expected to move into the Lake Tahoe region, Carson City, Carson Valley, Central Lyon County, and far western Nevada later today, according to the National Weather Service.

Chancellor, Board Chairman to Visit WNC Carson City campus to Start President Search

UPDATE: Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Dr. Thom Reilly and Board Chairman Kevin J. Page plan to visit WNC on Monday, Sept. 18 to gather information for naming an acting or interim president at the college.

They will meet with the WNC Institutional Advisory Committee, Foundation and Associated Students of Western Nevada at 11 a.m. in Reynolds Center Room 102. Members of the public may attend this meeting and provide comments.

There will be an interactive video of this meeting available on the Fallon campus in Piñon Hall Room 202 to allow public comment.

Nevada leads nation in private sector job growth
