Thunderstorms bring lightning strikes around Carson City

A series of thunderstorms moved into the Carson City and Carson Valley area Wednesday afternoon and evening bringing lightning and a few brush fires to the region. As of Wednesday 8:20 p.m. the storms had moved out of the Carson City, Carson Valley area. More thunderstorms are expected Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Dangberg Home Ranch Celtic Faire coming to Carson Valley on Saturday, Sept. 14

CARSON CITY — Southbound U.S. 395 will be reduced to one lane in northern Carson Valley this Wednesday, Sept. 4 as the Nevada Department of Transportation repaves sections of roadway surface.

July casino gaming revenue climbs in Carson City area, Lake Tahoe

Casinos in the Carson City area had a gaming revenue increase by nearly 3.8 percent in July, while gaming establishments at south shore Lake Tahoe increase by nearly 17 percent, according to a report released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

2019 Carson City Fair and Demolition Derby aftermath brings donations

The 2019 Carson City Fair finished its third year on the last Sunday in July with a record number of participants, exhibits and spectators. THURSDAY UPDATE: Low pressure approaching northeast California and western Nevada will bring another chance for showers and thunderstorms today, with a few showers or storms possibly lingering into Friday.
